1729 George II Silver Maundy Threepence – S.3713
This silver threepence formed part of the Maundy coinage issued during the reign of George II (1727–1760). Maundy coins were struck in sterling silver and distributed by the monarch as part of the traditional Maundy Thursday ceremony, a custom dating back to the Middle Ages.

The obverse presents a laureate and draped bust of George II facing left, with the legend GEORGIVS II DEI GRATIA (“George II, by the Grace of God”).

The reverse shows a bold crowned numeral “3”, flanked by the date split on either side (17 – 29). This simple yet elegant design was typical of the Maundy issues of the early Georgian period.
